So it seems you are curious about converting 14:30 military time into the standard AM/PM timekeeping system you are familiar with? Or maybe it is the other way around? Either way we can help. We can give you those answers but more importantly show you how to convert it yourself. All you must do is learn the basics of 24 hour vs 12 hour time keeping. This will give you the tools to know that 1430 military time is actually 2:30PM standard time.

So, how does the conversion work? The exercise below will walk you through the mental steps necessary to convert any stated military time to standard time whenever you need it.

The first thing to remember is that once military time goes higher than 1200, the conversion becomes a little more math intensive. For example 0900 military time is easily converted into 9:00AM. But, what about 1430?

If you need to convert 1430 military time or “fourteen hundred thirty hours”, simply subtract 1200, add a colon between the hours and minutes, and attach a PM to the end (because its after noon). You add a PM to the end of any military time 1200 or greater.

What is 1430 Military Time in Regular Standard AM/PM Time?

A great tip to commit to memory: Anytime you wish to convert military time to standard time that is after 12 PM(noon or 1200), simply subtract 1200, add a colon in between the hours and minutes, and add a PM after it.

Step 1. (subtract 1200)
1430 – 1200 = 230

Step 2. (add colon “:” between hours & minutes)
230 + : = 2:30

Step 3. (add PM after)
2:30 + PM = 2:30PM

ANSWER: What is 1430 Military Time? 2:30 PM

We hope this has helped you with your time conversion. Please feel free to stick around and explore.
